HISTORY

John Tait Veterinary Consulting was founded in 1999 by Dr. John Tait to serve the needs of veterinary clients in all aspects of veterinary business development.


We recognize that many veterinarians do not have the expertise to confidently tackle business-related issues. With degrees in both veterinary medicine and business management, John Tait Veterinary Consulting is ideally suited to helping veterinarians with all aspects of their business’ development cycle.

Vice President, Veterinary Centers of America (VCA)

3 ½ years; VCA is the largest acquisition and consolidation group in U.S. Accountable for 40+ practices in US Midwest. Responsible for evaluation of and purchase planning and integration of new practices.

Lecturer Professor, Michigan State University, Atlantic Veterinary College, Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University and Mississippi State University

3 ½ years; Taught business/financial planning and practice management in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Director, Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), Ontario Veterinary College

5 year term; Responsible for all aspects of VTH operations.

Past President, American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)

Served as President in 2009-2010; Treasurer in 2005-2006; Board of Directors member since 2003.

Board of Directors, National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues (NCVEI)

The NCVEI is a non-profit organization formed in 2000 by the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges in order to ensure the economic future of veterinary medicine.

Member, VetPartners

VetPartners promotes veterinary practice development.

Part-Time Faculty, Ontario Veterinary College

Responsible for economics and business management curriculum.
